On the afternoon of December 21, 2023, Shanghai Jiao Tong University's 2024 International Graduate Admissions Information Session was held online, with over 100 students from around the world in attendance. The session adopted a "1+10" model, with the Graduate School providing a general introduction and ten schools, including the School of Mathematical Sciences, UM-SJTU Joint Institute, School of Education, School of International and Public Affairs, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Biomedical Engineering, School of Agriculture and Biology, Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, and School of Design, participating in the presentation. The meeting was chaired by Qian Wang, Director of the International Office of the Graduate School, with a welcome speech delivered by Dean Tao Deng of the Graduate School. All teachers from the International Office and representatives from the presenting schools attended the meeting.
The session began with the recruitment promotional videos titled 'Today at SJTU' and 'SJTU, Where You Realize Your Dreams.' These videos not only showcased our university's rich history and vibrant research atmosphere but also presented our inclusive campus culture and pleasant environment in a vivid and tangible way, which was greatly appreciated by international students. Following the videos, Director Qian Wang provided a comprehensive introduction to Shanghai Jiao Tong University's educational history, international reputation, academic disciplines, and research strength to the attending students. She also used images to showcase the campus buildings and surroundings of the Minhang and Xuhui campuses, and provided detailed explanations on the eligibility, application process, and scholarship opportunities for international graduate admissions in 2023.
Subsequently, the ten participating schools provided detailed introductions to the international graduate admissions programs, including the curriculum, key disciplines, faculty strength, academic achievements, and other essential information. This fully showcased the unique features and advantages of each school's academic offerings. During the Q&A session, there was active interaction between the schools and the students, with the schools proactively addressing the students' inquiries. Among them, Nuri Erdem Ersoy, a doctoral student from Turkey at the UM-SJTU Joint Institute, shared his learning experience and insights in Jiao Tong University in a vivid and interesting way. At the enrollment briefing, students from different regions and countries around the world, including Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Australia, actively asked questions and had lively on-site exchanges.
Over the years, the Graduate School has continuously innovated in the promotion and recruitment of international students, actively collaborating with various schools to provide different channels for international students to learn about Shanghai Jiao Tong University, achieving good results. In the future, the university will continue to intensify recruitment efforts, improve the quality of international graduate admissions, and enhance the influence and reputation of the university's international graduate programs.
